R400 Rubber Application for Metal Roofs

  1. Thoroughly pressure clean the surface with water and/or detergent to remove any film, oils or foreign material that will inhibit bonding.
  2. Coat the entire surface with Pro Bond 200. The sealer ensures adhesion of R400 Rubber to the substrate. It can be sprayed or rolled as a thin mist or coat.
  3. Fill in all seams and fasteners with R400 Rubber Fiber. Can be applied with a brush or trowel.
  4. Apply R400 Rubber to the prepared surface by brush, roller or spray. If spraying, must use a 3/8″ hose and back roll. Apply 2 complete coats, allowing the first to dry completely. Drying time is 1-4 hours depending on the temperature and humidity. Care must be taken to avoid any skips, holidays, voids and holes.
  5. No top coat is needed with R400. Due to the non chalking surface there will be some dirt pickup.

Installation Notes

  • Do not thin or dilute the R400 Rubber for any reason
  • The R400 Rubber product must be allowed to form a continuous, unbroken film.
  • For every 200 square feet of roof, one 5 gallon bucket of R400 must be used in order to obtain the 22 mil thickness required.
  • If using Polyester Membrane, for every 100-120 square feet of roof, one 5 gallon bucket of R400 Rubber must be used.
